Position: Head of Player Development – Boys Side (Part-Time)

Delmarva Rush Soccer Club is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate individual to serve as Head of Player Development for our boys’ program. This leadership role is an exciting opportunity for a coach who loves youth soccer and is dedicated to helping players and coaches grow through a unified developmental philosophy.

About the Role

The Head of Player Development oversees technical and tactical growth across all boys’ travel teams (U8–U18), mentors coaches, and ensures alignment between travel and recreational programs. This individual plays a hands-on role in supporting coaches, players, and families, while serving as a bridge between programs to create a consistent and enjoyable soccer experience.

The Boys Head of Player Development will work closely with the Girls Head of Player Development to ensure consistency across the club. Many key responsibilities will be shared between the two positions, with collaboration being central to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee player development across boys’ travel teams (U8–U18).
  • Work collaboratively with the Girls Head of Player Development to align philosophy, planning, and training opportunities across the club.
  • Provide seasonal planning support and curriculum guidance for coaches.
  • Mentor and support travel team coaches, providing feedback and guidance.
  • Assist in player evaluations, team placements, and tryouts.
  • Coach at least one recreational team per season (Fall and Spring).
  • Recruit, support, and guide recreational coaches.
  • Organize Skills Nights and player development opportunities.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating Winter Academy and indoor training.
  • Communicate with coaches, families, and the Board regarding development standards and needs.

Qualifications

  • Prior coaching experience (youth, high school, or collegiate).
  • USSF Grassroots License or higher preferred (or willingness to pursue).
  • Strong understanding of youth development models and age-appropriate training.
  • Ability to mentor and manage coaches while fostering a positive environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Must complete DYSA carding, background checks, and SafeSport certification.

Compensation

  • Part-time independent contractor role.
  • Annual stipend of approximately $6,000.
  • Contractor will receive a 1099 form for tax reporting.
